Our team was contracted by UNESCO to support the Ministry of Education in Peru. Three ISL consultants worked closely with a Peruvian consultant. The specific aim of the project centered on developing a professional process for the effective mentoring and coaching of program principals. A pilot program was created and introduced, following a thorough analysis of existing methodologies, both in-country and around the globe, as well as an investigation into understanding what school leaders were looking for in a mentoring and coaching program. The pilot program involved monthly meetings over 10 months and resulted in the development and implementation of a plan that included strategies for the training and monitoring of coaches and ongoing program evaluation.
