Education Study Tours are provided to those who wish to understand the Ontario experience in driving student achievement improvements. The tours provide an opportunity to learn about the Ontario education system at all three levels: the school, school district and Ministry of Education. Participants will gain an understanding of the alignment and focus of our highly effective school system.

Education Study Tours are typically five days in length and are provided as customized programs for international groups or as a standard program open to registration from individuals and small groups from around the world.

Over 100 tours completed with participants from Asia, Europe, South America and Australia

The price for a 5-day study tour is shown in the chart below:

Price covers cost of program and presenters. Participants are responsible for their own accommodations, transportation and catering. An ISL tour coordinator will assist the group in making these arrangements if necessary.

A 10% discount to tours over 20 people will be applied for those who are repeat clients.

Individual Pricing

Individual registrations are accepted for our open tour sessions. The cost to join an open study tour is $650 CAD (taxes included).

Below is a typical agenda for an ISL Education Study Tour.  Ontario educators are called upon to provide the presentations and facilitate the learning. In addition, school visits are arranged within the Greater Toronto Area.

The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO)
The EQAO is an independent government body that develops and oversees reading, writing and mathematics tests that Ontario students must take in Grades 3,6,9 and 10. The EQAO is a fundamental source of evidence about student achievement in Ontario.

Debrief School Visits

Learning Session: Teacher Learning and Collaborative Inquiry
Increasing staff capacity is essential to improved student learning.  Driven by a moral purpose, the effective administrator needs to strive to learn along with his/her staff to increase their own capacity as an educator.  This leadership from within will help pave the way for improved learning among staff and ultimately among students.

 

 

Learning Session: Professional Learning Communities/Data Leadership
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in some authentic activities of a PLC.  They will examine actual school data to identify a learning need; participate as a team of teachers in moderated marking; discuss rubric formation and share teaching strategies to address learning needs. Steps of the professional learning cycle - plan, act, observe and reflect will be introduced.

Visa Supporting Documentation

If you have booked as a group and all participants require a visa, get in touch with your ISL tour coordinator to have any documentation you require prepared.

It is the responsibility of the participant to book their own travel and accommodations. Below are some suggestions and tips for planning your trip to Toronto.
